Printify: generate the art inside the product editor
Printify's AI Image Generator lives in the Product Creator. You pick a product, choose AI image, write a prompt and optionally pick a style; Printify's help center says each attempt makes one 1024 × 1024 image, which is upscaled automatically when an order goes to production (Printify Help). Every registered merchant gets 15 free attempts a day, reset after 24 hours (Printify Help). Printify's blog says the generator has been powered by OpenAI since August 2024 (Printify blog).

Printful: bring your own AI art, get AI mockups
Printful's Design Maker handles uploads, text, clipart, Quick Designs, patterns and mockups (Printful Help). Printful says it doesn't contain its own AI image creator
but works with AI-generated files you upload (Printful blog).
Where Printful does use AI is mockups. Its AI mockups show your product on a model or on its own in a generated scene. They're available for select apparel, only when creating a new product, with 10 attempts a day (Printful Help). Printful flags mockups that include AI-generated models with a disclaimer, because of New York's AI ad disclosure law (Printful Help).

What Etsy requires either way
- Disclose AI in the description. Etsy:
Sellers must disclose within their listing description if an item is created with the use of AI
(Etsy Seller Handbook). - Add Printify's provider or Printful as a production partner. Etsy requires sellers using production assistance to share it on the listings (Etsy Help). Step by step: how to add a production partner.

Which should you pick?
If you want to make AI designs without another subscription, Printify's built-in generator is the easy start. If you already have AI art and want in-house production plus AI model mockups, Printful fits. Both have free plans, so you can try the same design on both and order samples before listing.
