Etsy AI rules, in plain English.
- AI art is still allowed when you play a clear creative role, such as a design from your own prompts. You must disclose AI in the listing description, and you can't pass AI work off as handmade or entirely your own creation.
- New (Oct 22, 2026): AI-generated functional guides are banned. If you sell patterns, recipes or instructions, the information buyers rely on 'must be your own work, not generated by AI', and you must show an actual result made from your instructions, not an AI-generated one.
- New (Oct 22, 2026): most listings must include at least one unedited photo of the actual item against a real background. Don't edit that photo at all, with AI or anything else. Exceptions apply for print-on-demand, digital, customized and made-to-order items.
